Moon Knight Episode 1 recap

After Steven’s harrowing escape from Arthur Harrow and his following, the character has become rather unhinged by this point.

Upon returning from his failed date, after he got the day wrong, Steven discovers a phone stashed in his flat and looks to check its contents.

In a long list of missed calls, Layla is the prominent name and proceeds to call him while he investigates the phone. However, another name, DuChamp, can be seen in the list, with only one missed call from that contact.

Who is DuChamp?

Even though this character has not been properly introduced in the series, DuChamp is actually a comrade to Marc Spector in Marvel comics.

Jean-Paul DuChamp was a French soldier who met and befriended Marc Spector whilst operating in North Africa and he was given the nickname “Frenchie.”

During a raid on the Egypt/Sudan border, Marc turned against longtime Moon Knight rival Bushman, and DuChamp assisted him in attacking the villain.

After Marc inherited the powers of Egyptian god Khonshu, DuChamp became Marc’s confidant and even piloted the vigilante’s helicopter.

DuChamp’s relationship to Marc has always been compared to Alfred’s bond with Bruce Wayne from DC Comics.

Who could play DuChamp in the show?

Marvel nor Disney have announced who will be playing DuChamp in the Moon Knight series, nor is there any guarantee that the character will appear in the flesh – the name on the phone may remain as an Easter egg only.

However, Den of Geek reported that Marvel advertised a casting call while Moon Knight was in production, looking for someone who was “20-40 (years old), White male. Stereotypical good looking, overly enthusiastic, less intelligent than average but still lovable. Actor must be fluent in French.”

Furthermore, Saffron Hocking, Sofia Asir, Ahmed Dash, Hazem Ehab, Amr Al-Qadi, Zizi Dagher, Sofia Danu, Shaun Scott, and Díana Bermudez have all been cast in undisclosed roles. Could one of these actors fulfill the role of DuChamp?
