Have you just started Elden Ring and you feel that your weapons are very weak? Don’t worry, in this part of our guide we recommend some weapons that are very useful during the first hours of the game. You can get them as soon as you start, right after completing the tutorial and you will have no problem getting them in a matter of minutes.
The best weapons you can find in Limgrave
- Halberd: comes as standard with the Vagabond class and is a classic that many users have been using for years in the Dark Souls saga. Its thrust attack has a long range that allows you to hit without exposing yourself too much. It scales with Strength and is quite a powerful weapon. If you do not have it, you can try to kill the knights who carry one in the village located next to the pillar where you pick up the map of the area at the beginning of the game.
- Lordsworn’s Straight Sword: this is a very interesting sword, as it is lightweight, has a good attack and critical damage rate. Getting it is easy, as it is not uncommon for it to be dropped by the soldiers that prowl both the vicinity and the interior of Stormveil Castle, before arriving at the fight against Godrick, the Grafted. Rest in a nearby Site of Grace, kill several of them and if you have no luck, try again.
- Longsword: some say better the devil you know than the devil you don’t know. It is not among the best weapons in the game, but it can come in handy during the first hours. Best of all, you don’t need to look for it; you can buy it right at the start of the game from the Santa Claus-looking merchant in the first church you see as soon as you arrive in Limgrave.
- Flail: the most interesting thing is not its damage stat (although it is also very good), but the ease with which it can cause bleeding on the enemy. It is found in a chest in the village next to the pillar where you get the map of the area, where we also recommend you try to farm the Halberd.
Our favorite: Bloodhound’s Fang
This Curved Greatsword is not only very useful at the beginning of the game, but you can reach the end of the game using it if you upgrade it and it will be a totally reliable weapon. It is a weapon that scales in both Strength and Dexterity. It also deals a lot of bleeding damage. To get it you must overcome a small challenge: the mini-boss that awaits you in the Forlon Hound Evergaol, which you can access in the area indicated in the following image. It’s not a complicated combat, since after all it’s a normal enemy a little stronger than the rest and the best you can do is block his attacks, dodge some of them if you don’t have enough stamina and take advantage to give him a couple of blows as soon as you have a break.
Finally, if you have doubts about how weapon scaling works, in the following article you can learn all the details that will help you get a powerful build.
